Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Score Historic Chart-Topper with “Can’t Hold Us” | Billboard Blast

With all the big acts in 2013 that are scheduled to hit, who would've thought that the two independent artists Macklemore and Ryan Lewis would be killing them all? After scoring a chart topper with their single "Thrift Shop" earlier this year, setting records for the highest selling single of the year, they return to the top spot with their adrenaline-pumping follow-up, "Can't Hold Us" featuring Ray Dalton. The song captures the top spot from Pink and Nate Ruess' "Just Give Me A Reason" which held the spot for 3 weeks, and makes history - all at the same damn time. (more...)

Ciara’s “Body Party” Visual Garners Her Biggest Solo Chart Debut Yet | Billboard Blast

Could Ciara's time finally be upon us? After quite a few false starts in the journey to her fifth studio album, featuring a couple missed passes like "Sorry" and "Got Me Good", but her brand new single "Body Party" feels like a sure-fire hit. The single saw little movement after it was released digitally and to radio, but with the premiere of the video, in conjunction with Billboard's new charting-formula to include streaming services in their criteria, Ciara's new single parties her way up the chart. Fantasia’s ‘Side Effects Of You’ Debuts at #2 | Billboard Blast

Just when you thought Fantasia was out, she proves once again to be a winner in every sense of the word. No question the last few years has been hard on the singer. Documented in the Behind The Music series on VH1, she was plagued by bad press after being involved with a married man and failed suicide in an attempt to escape the madness, but she's back and she's a winner. Side Effects of You, her fourth studio album, debuts at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 91,000 - mirroring the rank of her previous Grammy-nominated album Back to Me which sold an impressive 117,000 in it's first week. The album has spawned the single "Lose to Win", which pushed to #15 on the Billboard R&B Songs chart this week and the follow-up single "Without Me" featuring Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott is being prepped as we speak. Also floating in the Top 10 is Justin Timberlake, P!nk, Kid Cudi, will.i.am, and more. (more...)

Ace Hood, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake are Certified-Sellers | Billboard Blast

Well deserved if you ask us. After rattling our speakers since it was released on January, Ace Hood's high-octane single "Bugatti" featuring Future and Rick Ross becomes his first certified single, achieving gold status for sales over 500K units. "Bugatti" in the past few months rocketed up the charts, peaking within the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and has easily become the We The Best/Cash Money star's most successful single to date. Kid Cudi’s ‘Indicud’ Debuts at #2 on Billboard Album Charts | Billboard Blast

Kid Cudi seems to be inching closer and closer to that top Billboard spot with each album, and while industry sources predicted a tight-race to the top of both Kid Cudi and the returning Fall Out Boy, it was the pop rock veterans that would pull away in the end. While Fall Out Boy notches another #1 album under their belt, Kid Cudi's third solo studio album Indicud still fares quite well with 136,000 sold in it's first week. The massive sales for an album that was abruptly pushed up a week, featured no massive radio play or music video in rotation, is a testament to his die-hard fan-base. (more...)
