Well folks, it’s finally here. Mariah Carey is making her triumphant return to the music game this year, and she has picked herself quite the winner of a single. The new American Idol judge drops her single, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” with assistance from MMG’s leading men, Rick Ross and Meek Mill. In the best words I can describe it – it sounds like the freshest sounding throwback record of Mariah Carey’s career. Listen to it in full after the jump..
Mariah Carey has always made it her business to collaborate with the hottest and best figures in hip hop music, and while some of those features hit more than others – this one is a winning combination. The luxury boss Rick Ross, the hungry rookie Meek Mill, and the glamorous diva that is Mariah Carey – the combination just makes sense. My only major beef with the record is the overkill of MMG on the record. While it is a Mariah Carey, with the back to back opening verses of Meek Mill and Rick Ross, you seem to forget for a while if this is really a Mariah track. However, Mariah Carey comes through with her signature vocals over the production of Bryan-Michael Cox and Jermaine Dupri. It’s pretty solid.
