Rarely are conference calls legendary, but when you’ve got Mariah Carey on the line – it might be the biggest call you’ll ever receive. Mariah Carey single, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” dropped a couple days ago featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill. Moreso the reason why I posted it is for folks to really get a feel or understand how a Conference call goes down. Particularly for myself, I learned a lot of things and will hopefully participate in one in the future. MC dropped some knowledge from her thoughts on R&B, to her brand new album, and everything in between. Full conference call and a few quotes after the jump.
“It would be incredible if we could bring the days when R&B records didn’t have to crossover and just be hits on their own.”
“[While] I was pregnant (forever), I was being tortured by Techno music and I was complaining to anyone who would listen. I remember one time I made dinner for [music executive] L.A Reid and we were both sitting there like ‘What Happened?’
“What started to get to me was when Hip Hop and R&B music seemed to be getting bowled over by [Electronic music/Uptempo dance music]…. I decided to re-sing all the vocals for ”Triumphant” like I used to do way back in the day… so at least it would have some sort of passion and soul to it. Then the Dance club remixers could do whatever they wanted to do, because I sang it at their tempo.”
“I was like, ‘What am I going to do.’ I’m not talking about all that type of music but I just really didn’t want to do that type of music. I didn’t want to go that direction just because it’s in.”
