Carly Rae Jepsen’s tight stranglehold on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart has given her the longest run of the year at the top spot, surpassing Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” with a 9 week stretch at number one. But the true story of the chart appears to be what’s on her heels. Ellie Goulding, whose song “Lights” was released way back in May of 2011 hits it’s highest peak at #2, blowing past names like Maroon 5, Flo Rida, and Katy Perry.
