Courtney Anthony was featured on our blog last year during the successful ThisGoesINDIE Friday, and I’ve been impressed with the kid ever since. And while it’s taken a bit, he finally releases his brand new mixtape Roughdraft: based on true stories and dreams to the world – and it’s an exciting and fresh listen from an up-and-coming talent.
The mixtape is a collection of his life built up to this moment, kicking off with “Late Night” which features his brief appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The follow up track “Bueno Dias” shows where his priorities lies, and while he’s still attending school – his love his rap. “When you see me on MTV getting my awards, remember me, remember me bitch – Imma be somebody. Courntey Anthony, remember the name.” . “60LD Ch▲ng3″, “YKHWD”, are early standouts. Courtney flexes his vocal skills on one of the most introspective tracks of the album, “The Fog” and he urges you towards the end to “Remember Me.”
Courtney Anthony has come strong with this mixtape, and in no time – I think he’ll be accepted into the crop of the fresh, young, exciting talent on the come up in this rap game. Listen and download the mixtape below..
